An operations manager's AI agent training plan covers three jobs: deciding held actions competently, running the rhythm of an agent operation (rotas, response targets, calibration, certificate expiry), and leading when something goes wrong. This template sets a learning route for each, the evidence it must produce, who signs it off, and when it renews.
What is this plan for?
Operations managers are usually accountable for the agent's day-to-day running, even when someone else owns the agent. They decide whether held items are moving, whether reviewers are certified, whether an agent's lapse has left work stranded, and whether an incident needs suspension. They also approve the most sensitive held items themselves.
None of that is learned from a product demo. A manager needs to have decided held items under assessment, to know what the record shows, and to have practised an incident. If you are new to structuring personal learning this way, what is a study plan? explains the format. For a first deployment specifically, see what is a good AI agent training plan for a first deployment?.
How do you fill it in?
Complete one row per job. In the "Evidence" column, list something you could hand to a risk committee. Add the fourth row only if the manager leads deployments across several agents in a regulated setting.

A worked example
A hypothetical third-party logistics firm's operations manager, responsible for a billing agent and a shipment exceptions agent. Values are samples.
| Job | Learning | Practice | Evidence | Signed off by | Renewal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Deciding held actions | Foundations; Operator modules on how a governed agent decides and human review | Two-week practicum on held credit notes and carrier claims | Certified Pryme Operator; practicum report with no missed red line | Pryme assessor; operations director | Every 12 months |
| 2. Running the rhythm | Operator modules on reading the workspace, usage and billing, keeping knowledge current, running the rhythm | Builds the rota, sets response targets, runs four weekly reviews from the record | Rota with certified cover; targets document; review minutes | Operations director | Reviewed quarterly |
| 3. Leading incidents | Operator module on when something goes wrong | Leads one tabletop drill: certificate lapse during month-end billing | Drill report with actions | Risk manager | Drill twice a year |
| 4. Leading regulated multi-agent work | Architect, about 30 hours plus capstone and board review | Capstone covering both agents | Certified Pryme Architect | Two Pryme assessors | Every 24 months |
Approval rights: credit notes up to 5,000; second approver on carrier claims above 10,000; may suspend either agent; may narrow customer limits.
Certificates: Certified Pryme Operator (expires month 12); Architect (if taken, expires month 24).
Job 3's drill scenario is chosen for a reason. When an agent's certificate lapses during month-end, it loses its certified depth, and billing it used to complete at depth 3 lands with people at the worst moment. The manager who has rehearsed this knows to call in certified cover, prioritise high-value invoices and tell finance, rather than discovering the problem when customers query late invoices.
Job 2 is where operations managers spend most of their time once the agent is live. Response targets keep held items moving without pressure to approve in bulk. Calibration keeps reviewers consistent, using calibration sessions for operations managers. Managers who also own operational risk may combine this with the training plan for risk managers, and those in investment businesses can compare the training plan for wealth managers. The team-wide sequence is in training teams for AI agents.
Where the Academy fits
Pryme Intelligence Academy's Operator track includes the modules this plan relies on, from human review to running the rhythm, and ends in a practicum signed off by a Pryme assessor. Managers leading regulated, multi-agent deployments can continue to Architect, which lasts 24 months. An admin view shows the team's progress and expiry dates in one place.
Questions people ask
Does an operations manager need to be a builder?
No. They need to understand what the brief, sources and bounds do, which Operator covers. Builders design and certify agents; managers run them.
What should an operations manager review each week?
Certificate status for each agent, verdict counts, held items over target, overturned approvals, and reviewers' certificates expiring soon.
Who covers when the operations manager is away?
A deputy with the same certificate and a documented handover. Suspension rights in particular must never depend on one person being available.
