Supplier invoices come in electronic formats, bank transactions arrive as feeds, and clients photograph receipts on their phones. Your week is spent coding transactions, matching them to documents, preparing VAT figures on a fixed cycle, handling payroll inputs and getting year-end files ready for the accountant who signs.
The hard part is rarely data entry. It is chasing the missing receipt, deciding whether a payment is private or business, and explaining a strange balance to a client who runs a bakery, not a ledger. Danish workplaces tend to be flat, so you often deal with the client directly and are trusted to use your own judgement. That habit of deciding and explaining is exactly what oversight work asks for.
What changes as agents arrive in Danish accounting practices?
Agents act at a set depth for each capability, and that depth is earned on the practice's own cases rather than switched on. In a bookkeeping practice the typical pattern looks like this:

Employers want to see that you make the right call on an agent's output, quickly and with a reason. For a bookkeeper that means spotting a duplicate, recognising an unverified bank change, knowing when a VAT treatment is wrong for that client, and escalating what is not yours to decide. Which rules in Denmark shape oversight work?
Denmark is an EU member, so the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) applies. It entered into force on 1 August 2024 and its obligations phase in over several years. Article 4 expects organisations using AI to make sure their staff have sufficient AI literacy, which is why practices now ask about it in interviews. Article 50 requires people to be told when they are dealing with an AI system, which matters when an agent writes to clients.
GDPR governs the personal data in client books, from payroll to private spending. Article 5 sets the principles, Article 30 requires records of processing, and Article 22 restricts decisions based solely on automated processing that have significant effects. A national data protection authority supervises all of this. Days 31 to 60. Work through the Operator lessons and sit the exam: 40 questions in 60 minutes, with a pass mark of four in five. Start the two-week practicum.
