Danish procurement officers can move into AI operations by reviewing what agents draft in purchasing and supplier work, analysing why agents are held or refused, and advising public bodies on buying agent systems under the EU AI Act. Your grounding in tender rules, documentation and equal treatment is the core skill. A checkable certificate and a review log make it visible to employers.
What does public procurement work look like in Denmark today?
A procurement officer in a municipality, a region or a state agency works inside a well-digitised public administration. Requests arrive through electronic systems, framework agreements cover much routine buying, and tenders above the EU thresholds follow the EU procurement rules on transparency and equal treatment. Your days go on checking whether a need fits an existing framework, preparing tender material, answering supplier questions, coordinating evaluation and keeping contract records clean.
The work culture matters for your next move. Danish workplaces tend to be flat and trust-based, with decisions discussed openly. Oversight roles suit that: a reviewer is expected to say plainly why a draft was held, and to raise a pattern with the team rather than quietly fixing items one by one.
What changes as agents arrive in Danish public buying?
Agents fit the reading and drafting layers of procurement. The decisions stay with named officers.
- Framework matching, depth 1. The agent reads a request and checks which framework agreement, if any, covers it. It recommends; it does not order.
- Call-off orders under a framework, depth 3. Within limits the organisation sets, the agent places routine orders against an existing framework. Above the limit, or for a new supplier, it holds.
- Supplier questions during a tender, depth 2. The agent drafts answers from the tender documents. An officer publishes them so every bidder sees the same text.
- Documentation checks on bids, depth 1. The agent flags missing declarations or forms. Exclusion decisions stay with people.
- Contract expiry follow-up, depth 2. The agent drafts reminders and a summary of options for each expiring contract.
Equal treatment is where an untrained reviewer slips. If an agent answers one bidder's question with information not given to the others, that is a procurement failure, not a typo. Catching it is the job.
Which AI operations jobs can a procurement officer take on?
Job titles vary across Danish employers, and many adverts are in Danish while others, especially in international firms, are in English. Read the duties rather than hunting for one title: review of agent output, exceptions, approvals, quality and escalation.
- Agent reviewer in procurement, finance or supplier management, working the held queue and recording reasons.
- AI operations analyst, reading patterns across held and refused items and proposing changes to the agent's sources or bounds.
- AI procurement adviser, helping public bodies specify and buy agent systems, including the evidence and logs a supplier must provide.
- Knowledge owner, keeping frameworks, thresholds and procurement guidance current inside the agent's sources.

What skills and certificate do Danish employers look for?
They look for AI literacy in the practical sense: knowing how an agent decides, what it may do at each depth, and where a person must step in. They also look for the procurement instincts you already have. Our piece on why procurement officers make strong AI agent reviewers sets those out.
Show both with evidence an employer can check. Certified Pryme Operator requires a written exam of 40 questions in 60 minutes with a pass mark of four in five, and a two-week practicum of review decisions, nineteen in twenty correct with no missed red line. The certificate is issued through VerifyDoc.ai and can be checked by number or QR code. It is a professional certificate, not a public authorisation. Keep your decisions in a practicum log built for procurement officers so you can talk through them in interview.
Which rules shape oversight work in Denmark?
Denmark is an EU member, so the EU AI Act and GDPR apply directly. The AI Act entered into force on 1 August 2024, with obligations phasing in over several years. For public buyers, the deployer obligations in Article 26 matter most: use the system according to its instructions, assign human oversight to competent people, and keep the logs. Article 14 sets what human oversight must make possible, and Article 4 expects staff who operate AI to have sufficient AI literacy. Bodies governed by public law that deploy certain high-risk systems must carry out a fundamental rights impact assessment under Article 27.
Under GDPR, Article 22 limits decisions based solely on automated processing with significant effects, and Article 35 requires a data protection impact assessment where processing is likely to be high risk. The national data protection authority supervises. NIS2 adds cybersecurity risk management duties for many public administration entities.

What does a 90-day plan to get hired look like?
Month one. Finish the free Foundations track. Write a one-page note on your own team's process showing where an agent could read, draft or execute, and what must stay with an officer.
Month two. Study the Operator modules, with tests set in public procurement. Begin the practicum, on a simulated queue in a free workspace if your organisation has no agent. Read how procurement officers can complete the operator practicum first.
Month three. Sit the exam, complete the practicum and share the certificate with a short write-up. Tell your manager and your organisation's digitalisation team that you want a role in the next agent pilot.
Where the Academy fits
Pryme Intelligence Academy runs the whole route on the real product: free lessons you can read or listen to, labs in a free Build workspace, and module tests set in public procurement. The Foundations badge is free; the Operator certificate is issued through VerifyDoc.ai and appears on a public register.
Questions people ask
Do I need to speak Danish for these roles?
For most public sector roles, yes, because the agent's sources and the correspondence it drafts are in Danish. International companies in Denmark may run review work in English.
Does the AI Act create jobs for procurement officers?
It creates duties: oversight, logging, literacy and impact assessment. Someone has to carry them out, and procurement officers understand how public bodies buy and document systems.
Can I do the practicum without an agent at work?
Yes. People without a job that uses Pryme do the practicum on a simulated queue in a free workspace, assessed to the same standard.
