Swedish organisations appoint AI agent owners to answer for an agent's bounds, depth, changes and incidents in one process. Owners tend to be team leads, operations managers or product owners in banks, insurers, energy companies, retailers and public-service suppliers. What does agent ownership look like in Sweden?
Swedish workplaces favour delegated responsibility and decisions reached through discussion. Agent ownership fits that: the owner is usually close to the work and expected to consult reviewers, frontline staff and, where relevant, union representatives before major changes. Customers expect transparency about automated handling and easy access to a person.

What does an owner decide?
You decide how far to trust the agent, using evidence from your own cases.
- Limits. For example, a retail agent may issue refunds up to a set amount at depth 4; anything above is refused, and the agent may only draft it. Your limits hold or refuse actions; only the platform floor withholds actions for every agent.
- Depth. When Attest shows the agent clearing all seven gates on your cases, you decide with your team whether to request more depth, within the role's ceiling.
- Access to a person. You make sure customers can reach a person easily, and that the agent tells them it is an agent.
- Incidents. When a run clears no depth and the agent drops to depth 1, you redirect work and agree the fix with the builder and reviewers.
- Records. You review filed verdicts regularly, looking at holds, overturns and drift.

What skills and certificate do Swedish employers look for?
Swedish employers value competence, collaboration and a calm, factual manner. In interviews, expect to show how you involve others: "Reviewers think the agent holds too many cases; management wants more depth. How do you decide?" Look at the record together, separate correct holds from false ones, fix the false ones and request depth only where evidence supports it.
Clear Swedish matters for customer-facing agents, because you must judge whether answers are correct and plain.

Which rules shape an owner's work in Sweden?
Sweden is an EU member, so the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) applies. It entered into force on 1 August 2024 and phases in over several years. For deployers of high-risk systems, Article 26 requires use in line with instructions, human oversight by competent people with the necessary authority, monitoring and log retention. Article 50 requires people to be told when they interact with an AI system, and Article 4 expects AI literacy among staff.
GDPR governs the personal data agents use, supervised by the national data protection authority. Article 22 restricts solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, and Article 35 requires a data protection impact assessment for high-risk processing. Banks and insurers work under DORA from 17 January 2025, covering ICT risk, incidents, testing and third parties, and NIS2 covers essential and important entities such as energy companies.

What should your 90 days look like?

Do unions have a say in agent ownership?
Unions and employee representatives may be consulted on changes affecting work. Your employer handles the formal process; as owner, be ready to explain the agent clearly.
Can I own agents in the public sector?
Public bodies and their suppliers do run agents. Under the EU AI Act some public uses are high-risk, so expect more documentation.
Is ownership a full-time role?
Sometimes. Often it is part of a team lead or product owner role, with regular time set aside for records and incidents.
