To train AI agents in the Netherlands, build on expertise in a process that agents now handle, such as pension administration, payments disputes or logistics paperwork. You will fix agents by rewriting briefs, curating sources and designing test cases, then proving the result. Employers hire on domain depth, clear writing, test thinking and checkable proof.
What does agent training work look like in the Netherlands today?
The Netherlands has large pension administrators, a busy payments and fintech sector, insurers, and logistics firms tied to its ports and airports. Pension rules are detailed and scheme-specific, payments firms handle disputes across many European markets, and logistics firms process customs and transport documents at volume.
In each of these, agents depend on sources that change. A pension agent must use the scheme's current rules, not an older version. A disputes agent must apply the right card scheme rules for the right market. When the source changes, the trainer updates it, writes test cases for the change, and proves the agent handles them. Today that work is often done by process specialists and senior case handlers.
What changes as agents arrive?
Trainers concentrate on the points where agent errors cost most:
- Pension member queries, depth 2. The agent drafts answers; the trainer checks that it draws on the sealed scheme rules and builds cases for members in transition between arrangements.
- Chargeback evidence packs, depth 2. The agent assembles evidence and drafts a response. The trainer studies lost disputes and adjusts the brief and sources.
- Customs document reading, depth 1. The agent summarises paperwork; the trainer adds cases where codes were misread.
- Refunds and payouts, depth 4, held. A named person approves. The trainer makes sure the draft gives them what they need.
Each change is proven by replaying the agent on the firm's own past cases. Depth is earned from that evidence and lapses after 90 days unless the agent is re-certified.

What skills and proof do Dutch employers look for?
Domain knowledge that goes beyond the procedure: you know why the rule exists. Direct, unambiguous writing. A habit of testing edge cases. Willingness to say a capability should be narrowed rather than stretched, which fits a direct workplace culture.
Proof should be concrete: three anonymised fixes with failure, cause, change and test result. A worked example helps in interviews. A trainer we will call Sanne, at a pension administrator, sees reviewers correcting the agent's answers for members who changed employer mid-year. She finds that the agent reads only the current employer's scheme record. She adds the member's full scheme history as a sealed source, writes a line in the brief on which record governs, builds twelve test cases from past transfers, and the capability clears certification.
Which Dutch and EU rules shape oversight work?
The EU AI Act applies in the Netherlands. It entered into force on 1 August 2024 with obligations phasing in over several years. Article 10 (data governance), Article 12 (logs), Article 14 (human oversight) and Article 4 (AI literacy) are the most relevant to trainers. Annex III lists credit scoring of natural persons and risk assessment and pricing for life and health insurance as high-risk.
The GDPR governs personal data in test cases and sources, so build case sets with only the data needed. De Nederlandsche Bank supervises banks, insurers and pension funds prudentially, and the AFM supervises conduct. DORA applies to financial firms from 17 January 2025. Payments trainers will also meet PSD2 strong customer authentication and the EU Instant Payments Regulation's payee name check in the cases they build.

What does a 90-day plan look like?
Days 1 to 30. Earn the free Foundations badge and complete the Operator lessons and exam: 40 questions in 60 minutes, four in five to pass.
