AI skills for job seekers·Answer

What AI skills should a teacher learn to stay employable?

Teachers stay employable by learning to moderate AI-suggested marks and feedback, keep safeguarding with people and protect pupils' personal data.

Moderation is the teacher's AI skill. Agents can suggest marks, draft feedback and report comments, and answer routine messages to families. A teacher stays employable by checking that work against the mark scheme and the child, keeping safeguarding with people, protecting pupil data and explaining each change.

What are agents doing in schools?

Teachers lose evenings to marking, report writing and admin. Agents can now draft feedback on written work against a rubric, suggest marks for short-answer tests, write first drafts of report comments, generate practice questions and answer families' questions about dates and kit.

What they cannot do is know the child. They do not see that a quiet pupil has been absent, that a sudden drop in effort follows a family crisis, or that a comment hidden in a homework answer is a disclosure. Teachers carry that knowledge, and schools rely on it.

What should stay with the teacher?

  • Final marks and grades. The agent suggests; you moderate and decide.
  • Report comments. The agent drafts; you make sure each one is true of this child.
  • Feedback to pupils. The agent drafts; you check it is accurate, kind and useful.
  • Safeguarding. No role for the agent beyond passing anything concerning straight to a person. Disclosures go to the school's designated lead under its own procedure.
  • Messages to families about a child's progress or behaviour. Reviewed by a teacher before sending.
  • Pupil data. Shared only as needed, through approved systems. Children's data deserves particular care under privacy law.

What does moderation of agent marking look like?

Take a teacher we will call Joanna at a secondary school. An agent has suggested marks for thirty history essays against the department's rubric. Joanna samples eight. Seven are close to her own marks. One pupil, who has dyslexia, has been marked down heavily for spelling, but the rubric assesses historical argument and use of evidence, not spelling. Her argument is among the strongest in the class.

Joanna changes the mark, writes "Rubric does not assess spelling; mark reflects argument and evidence," and checks the other essays for the same error. She finds two more. She reports the pattern so the agent's brief is corrected for the department. That is exactly the judgement a moderator applies, now applied to an agent.

Which skills should you build?

  1. Moderating agent output against the rubric, with a written reason for every change.
  2. Spotting systematic errors, not just single wrong marks.
  3. Safeguarding vigilance: noticing what an agent might pass over as ordinary text.
  4. Data care for pupil information.
  5. Explaining AI use to families and colleagues plainly.
  6. Feeding back to whoever configures the agent, so the same mistake does not recur.

Teachers who move into wider roles find the same habits in money-facing work, such as AI skills for a collections agent, and in public sector purchasing, covered in AI skills for a procurement officer.

How do you show the skills?

If you are staying in teaching, describe the oversight in your applications: moderation of agent-suggested marks, review of drafted reports, safeguarding procedures applied. If you are moving out, the AI agent skills CV section for a teacher and rewriting a teacher CV for AI operations jobs translate classroom experience into review terms. How to move from teacher to AI agent reviewer covers the full move. The wider picture is in AI skills for job seekers.

Where the Academy fits

Pryme Intelligence Academy's free Foundations track takes about four hours and can be read or listened to as audio, which fits around a school week. Teachers considering a move into agent review can follow it with the Operator track, whose module tests are set in your own industry and role, and whose practicum can run on a simulated queue in a free workspace.

Questions people ask

Will AI replace teachers?

Agents can take on parts of marking, planning and admin. Teaching, pastoral care and safeguarding depend on relationships and judgement that stay with people. The time saved can go back to pupils.

Is teaching experience valued in AI review roles?

Yes. Teachers mark to a standard, moderate each other's work, write clear reasons and notice when something is wrong with a person. Those are the core habits of agent review.

Should pupils be told when an agent marked their work?

Schools should be open with pupils and families about how AI is used. Whatever the agent suggests, a teacher should own the final mark and be able to explain it.
