AI agent jobs and careers·Answer

What does an AI agent reviewer job look like for a former HR coordinator?

A former HR coordinator reviewing AI agents works a queue of drafted offers, policy answers and personnel requests, deciding each and recording the reason.

Picture your inbox of offer letters, onboarding packs and policy questions, except an agent has drafted the first answer to each. Your job is to check the draft against the right policy and the right person's file, approve or correct it, and record why. The care you took with personal data and tone becomes the core of the role.

What kinds of work arrive in the queue?

In a professional services firm, an HR agent typically handles the steady flow: employee questions about leave and expenses, interview scheduling, onboarding checklists, and first drafts of offer and contract-change letters. Most of that never reaches you.

What does reach you is held work. A letter that changes someone's pay or hours. An answer that touches sickness absence, which is health information and treated as special-category data under GDPR in Europe. A request from a manager to see a team member's file. A question the agent could not ground in the handbook. Each item shows the draft, the sources used and the reason it was held.

Where does the agent stop and you start?

The boundary is set per capability, not per agent. A typical HR set-up looks like this:

  • Answering policy questions from the current handbook: the agent may reply on its own once certified for it, and you sample its answers.
  • Booking interviews and sending reminders: routine work within bounds, done by the agent.
  • Drafting offer letters and contract changes: the agent drafts; you approve before anything is sent.
  • Changing pay, hours or contract status in the HR system: held for a named person every time.
  • Anything about grievances, discipline or performance concerns: refused for the agent by the firm's own limits, so it routes straight to people.

The last line matters. Some work stays with people not because the agent would get the words wrong, but because the firm has decided that a person must own the conversation.

What does a morning in the queue look like?

Take a reviewer we will call Amara at a consultancy of around 400 staff. The first held item is a reply to an employee asking whether she can extend parental leave by four weeks. The draft is warm and clear, and it cites the leave policy.

Amara checks the source and finds the agent quoted the previous version, which has since been replaced. She corrects the answer, sends it, and logs a second item: the old policy is still sitting in the agent's sources and must be retired. That second action is what separates reviewing from proofreading. Fixing one reply helps one person; fixing the source stops the same error reaching the next twenty.

What does the record show about your work?

Every decision you make is filed in an append-only record with the action, your verdict and your reason. If an employee later disputes what they were told, the firm can show exactly what the agent drafted, what you changed and which policy applied at the time.

That record also measures you. Reviewers are assessed on whether their decisions were right and whether any red line slipped through, such as personal data sent to the wrong person. Speed matters less than you might expect.

Which HR coordinator habits transfer?

More than most people assume. You already check that a letter matches the approved template, that the name, dates and figures agree with the file, and that confidential information goes only to people entitled to it. You know when an innocent-looking question is the start of a grievance.

What you will learn is how agents are bounded: what depth means, why a draft sits at depth 2 while a booking runs at depth 3, and how to write feedback that changes the agent's brief. The guide to AI agent jobs and careers sets out the roles around this work. Job titles are inconsistent. Look for adverts that mention review, approvals, exceptions, quality checks or escalation, whether they say "HR operations", "people operations" or "AI operations". Questions people ask

Do I need an HR qualification to review HR agents?

Not always. Experience with policies, letters and personal data counts for a great deal. Some employers prefer a professional HR qualification for senior reviewers, so read the advert.

Will I lose contact with employees?

Less than you fear. Routine questions go to the agent, but sensitive conversations are usually kept with people by design. Many reviewers find they spend more time on the conversations that matter.

What is the hardest part to learn?

Writing feedback that fixes the cause. "Wrong answer" teaches nothing. "Cited a retired policy; remove version one from the sources" is the standard to aim for, and it is what the cover letter template for HR coordinators applying for AI operations jobs helps you show.
