What is a public register of certified professionals?

A public register of certified professionals is a list anyone can check showing who holds which credential, at what level, and when it expires or lapsed.

A public register of certified professionals is a list anyone can search that shows who holds which credential and when it expires. It answers "is this person qualified right now?" without asking the person or their employer. For people who review and govern AI agents, it turns a certificate from a private claim into a checkable fact.

What does a register show, and what does it leave out?

A useful register shows the minimum needed to rely on a credential:

  • the holder's name
  • the credential and level held
  • the date it was issued and the date it expires
  • its status: current, lapsed or revoked

It leaves out exam scores, assessor comments, employer details unless the holder agrees, and anything else not needed to confirm the claim. The register exists to confirm status, not to rank people.

A register of professionals differs from a public register of certificates in the direction of the search. A certificate register is searched by certificate number or QR code: you have a document and want to confirm it. A register of professionals is searched by name: you have a person and want to know what they hold. Both should draw from the same source, so they cannot disagree.

Why does it matter for people who work with agents?

Approval rights for an agent's held actions are increasingly tied to training. A business may decide that only people with a current reviewer certificate can release held payments, or that only a certified architect may sign off a multi-agent deployment. Three groups then need to check:

  1. Employers hiring a reviewer or contractor want to confirm the claim on a CV.
  2. Clients of a supplier that runs agents on their behalf want to know the people on their account are current.
  3. Auditors and supervisors testing a deployment want to confirm that the person who approved a decision was qualified at that time.

Without a register, each of these checks becomes an email to the employer, which proves nothing independent. A public register makes certification mean something because it removes the holder and the employer from the chain of trust.

Can agents be on the register too?

Not on the same one. A person's certificate says they can review, build or govern agents. An agent's certificate says it passed certification on a specific customer's cases, to a specific depth, and it lapses after 90 days. Those are different claims about different things. Whether an AI agent can be certified is answered in its own piece; the short version is yes, per agent and per customer, recorded inside that customer's workspace rather than on a public list of people.

An example: checking a contractor

Take a lender bringing in a contract reviewer to clear a backlog of held credit decisions. The contractor's CV says they hold a reviewer-level certificate. The lender's operations manager searches the register by name and finds the credential, issued 10 months ago and expiring in two. They grant approval rights for the contract period, note the expiry, and set a reminder.

Six weeks later the contractor's certificate lapses because they have not renewed. The register shows it as lapsed. The lender's internal record, built with the AI agent certificate register template, flags the same date, and approval rights pause until renewal.

How does a register relate to internal tracking?

A public register tells you a person's status. It does not tell you which of your queues they approve on or what limits they hold. Large teams still need an internal record that joins credentials to roles and permissions; how to track who is certified across a large team covers that. The two should agree, and the public register should be the source of truth for status. The full structure is in the guide to AI literacy and certification for people who work with agents.

Where the Academy fits

Pryme Intelligence Academy keeps a public register that lists certified people by name, credential and expiry. Certificates are issued through VerifyDoc.ai and can be checked at source by number or QR code, and a lapsed or revoked certificate shows as such on the same page. The register and the certificate check draw on the same issuance, so a client or auditor sees one answer.

Questions people ask

Is being on a public register a privacy risk?

It publishes a small amount of professional information, which is why it should hold only what is needed to confirm status. The holder should know their entry is public when they accept the credential.

What happens to an entry when a certificate lapses?

It stays, marked as lapsed, so anyone checking sees the true status. Removing lapsed entries would make it impossible to tell a lapse from a credential that never existed.

Can an employer rely on the register instead of keeping records?

No. The register confirms status. The employer still has to record who has which approval rights and keep evidence that it checked.
