AI agent training plan template for wealth advisers

A ready-to-copy AI agent training plan for wealth advisers: the tracks, a practicum on held suitability drafts, assessor sign-off and yearly renewal.

Each wealth adviser who signs off agent-prepared work needs a written plan covering three things: the shared vocabulary of agents, a certified reviewer standard proven on real suitability drafts, and a renewal that sits alongside their annual competence review. The template below sets those out field by field, with a sample plan for one adviser.

Why plan per adviser?

Advice is personal and so is accountability for it. An agent can prepare the annual review pack, summarise the fact-find, check whether a portfolio has drifted from its target, and draft a suitability report. All of that is depth 1 or 2. What it must not do is make the recommendation. The adviser decides, edits and sends.

That makes the adviser the control. A tired adviser who signs a polished draft without checking the client's stated attitude to risk has turned the agent into the adviser. Training has to make that failure visible before a client sees it. It also has to cover requests that arrive from outside: an email asking to move funds to a new account is an external claim, and it cannot authorise anything, however convincing it looks.

The firm-level plan, covering paraplanners, client services and operations too, is in the training plan template for wealth managers. This one zooms in on the adviser. The broader method sits in the guide to training teams for AI agents.

How do you fill it in?

Complete one plan per adviser with their line manager. Copy the agent's capabilities from the firm's register, then mark which ones feed this adviser's clients and at what depth. Choose practicum cases from the adviser's own client bank where possible, because judgement on a familiar client tests something different from judgement on a stranger.

Set the renewal date to fall just before the adviser's annual competence review, so both are discussed together. And write the pause rule down: if the certificate lapses, held drafts for this adviser's clients go to a named colleague until renewal.

The template

  1. Adviser name, team and permissions held
  2. Client segment (for example, retirement income, business owners)
  3. Agent capabilities feeding this adviser, with depth (review pack, depth 1; suitability draft, depth 2; rebalancing proposal, depth 2)
  4. Held actions the adviser decides (every outbound recommendation; any trade proposal)
  5. Red lines (never send a recommendation unread; never act on an emailed instruction to move money without a verified call-back)
  6. Track (shared foundation; certified reviewer)
  7. Foundation complete by
  8. Reviewer modules complete by
  9. Written exam date
  10. Practicum window (two weeks of real held drafts)
  11. Practicum cases required (at least one client whose circumstances changed since the last fact-find; one external instruction)
  12. Assessor and sign-off date
  13. Calibration group and rhythm
  14. Renewal date (aligned with the annual competence review)
  15. Cover if lapsed (named adviser)

A sample completed plan

  1. Sample Adviser D, private clients team, fully permitted
  2. Retirement income clients, about 120 households
  3. Review pack (1), suitability draft (2), rebalancing proposal (2)
  4. Every suitability report and every rebalancing proposal before it reaches a client
  5. Red lines as above, plus: never accept the agent's risk profile without checking it against the signed questionnaire
  6. Foundation and certified reviewer
  7. to 9. Foundation by week 2; modules by week 5; exam in week 6
  8. Weeks 7 and 8, during the quarter's review meetings
  9. Includes a client who mentioned a new grandchild and changed income needs, and an email from an unknown address asking to switch the payment account
  10. Assessor sign-off at the end of week 8
  11. Monthly calibration with four other advisers, five shared cases each time
  12. Renewal 12 months on, two weeks before the competence review
  13. Cover: Sample Adviser E

The calibration rhythm in line 13 follows the method in how to run calibration sessions for wealth advisers.

Where the Academy fits

Pryme Intelligence Academy provides the two tracks used here. Foundations is free and gives the shared vocabulary. Operator certifies the adviser through a 40-question exam passed at 32 of 40 and a two-week practicum with at least 95 in every 100 decisions correct and no missed red line, signed off by a Pryme assessor. The certificate is valid 12 months and shows as lapsed at source if not renewed.

Questions people ask

How long does the plan take for one adviser?

About eight weeks, mostly alongside client work, since the practicum uses real drafts. More detail on the timing is in how long it takes to train wealth advisers to supervise AI agents.

Does the plan change by market?

The structure does not; the rules around it do. For one market's specifics, see AI agent training for wealth advisers in wealth management in Australia.

Can the same plan work for other adviser roles?

Yes, with different red lines. An HR adviser plan, for example, centres on employee data and grievance decisions, as in the training plan template for HR advisers.
