Ongoing advice fee renewals, superannuation rollovers, client document filing and platform reconciliations are where AI agents help Australian wealth management operations leaders. Agents track, check and file; people decide on advice, withdrawals, fee exceptions and client complaints. ASIC's advice and fee rules, APRA's CPS 230 for superannuation trustees, the Privacy Act 1988 and the OAIC apply.
What fills an Australian wealth operations leader's week?
Ongoing fee consent. Clients paying ongoing advice fees must renew their consent regularly, and fees cannot be deducted from their accounts without valid, current consent. Operations tracks every arrangement, sends renewal forms, records consents and stops fees when consent lapses. Past failures to deliver services for fees charged led to large remediation programmes, and the industry has not forgotten.
Superannuation. Rollovers between funds, contribution queries, insurance inside super and benefit payments make up much of the work for firms that run or administer super. Trustees are APRA-regulated and must keep operations resilient.
Platforms and managed accounts. Investment platforms and managed accounts need daily reconciliation with custodians and fund managers, corporate action processing and model portfolio rebalancing.
Records. Statements of advice, records of advice, client identity documents and consent forms must be kept, findable and current.
Where can AI agents help Australian wealth teams?
- Fee consent tracking (depth 3). The agent tracks every ongoing fee arrangement, sends renewal forms in approved wording on schedule, records returned consents and flags arrangements about to lapse. Stopping fee deductions on lapse is drafted for a person to confirm.
- Rollover processing (depth 2 and 3). The agent checks incoming rollover requests against member records and the receiving fund's details, completes clean rollovers within limits, and drafts anything with mismatched details.
- Client document filing (depth 3). The agent files statements of advice, consents and identity documents to the correct client record with the right classification. Our playbook on how to let an AI agent file documents in your document management system covers the controls.
- Platform reconciliation breaks (depth 2). The agent compares platform holdings with custodian and fund manager records, classifies breaks and drafts the explanation.
- Operational incident logging (depth 3). The agent logs system and process incidents to the IT service management platform with the right severity. See our playbook on how to connect an AI agent to your IT service management platform.
Fee consent tracking is the most Australia-specific use. The rules are clear, the consequences of error are refunds and regulatory action, and the work is a calendar problem that agents handle well. A person confirms only the stop, because stopping fees affects the adviser's revenue and the client relationship.
What stays with people, and why?
Advice stays with advisers. An operations agent must not make recommendations to clients.
Benefit payments, withdrawals and early release decisions stay with people. They move retirement savings and are hard to reverse.
Fee exceptions, refunds and remediation decisions stay with people.
Complaint outcomes stay with people; clients can take complaints to the external dispute resolution scheme.

Which rules apply in Australia?
ASIC regulates financial advice, managed investments, platforms and conduct, including best interests duties for advisers, ongoing fee arrangement rules, design and distribution obligations and internal dispute resolution. APRA supervises superannuation trustees, and its CPS 230 operational risk management standard requires them to manage operational risk, maintain critical operations within tolerance and manage material service providers, which reaches an agent and its supplier.
The Privacy Act 1988, overseen by the OAIC, governs client personal information, including tax file numbers and health information connected to insurance in super. AML and counter-terrorism financing law requires customer due diligence and suspicious matter reporting, consistent with the FATF Recommendations.
The government's voluntary AI safety standard offers a governance checklist. Australian groups with EU clients or entities may also find our guide to EU AI Act Article 9 risk management for AI agents useful as a structured reference. Australia has no single AI law.
This is an explanation of the rules, not legal advice; confirm how they apply to you with counsel.
How should you start in the first 90 days?
Weeks 1 to 4: start with client document filing in shadow. It touches every record type and prepares the ground for everything else.
Weeks 5 to 8: certify filing at depth 3. Start fee consent tracking in shadow on arrangements due in the next quarter, comparing the agent's calendar with yours.
Weeks 9 to 13: certify consent tracking at depth 3, with lapse stops held for a person. Add rollover processing for clean cases. Follow deploying an AI agent: train, shadow, certify, widen. Where Pryme fits
In Pryme, the platform's fee arrangement record arrives as a sealed source, a client's signed consent form as signed evidence, and an adviser's email saying the client agreed as declared. Fees are never continued on declared evidence. Every verdict, including each lapse hold, is filed.
Questions people ask
Can the agent stop advice fees when consent lapses?
It drafts the stop and flags it on the day. A person confirms, so the adviser can be told and the client contacted.
Can the agent answer clients' super questions?
It can explain balances, transactions and published product terms. Anything that amounts to advice goes to an adviser.
Is the agent a material service provider under CPS 230?
If a third party supplies it and it supports a critical operation of a super trustee, treat the supplier under your CPS 230 framework.
