Former bank tellers and customer advisers in Denmark can move into AI operations as agent reviewers, fraud and exceptions reviewers, or AI operations analysts. Danish retail banking is highly digital, so agents increasingly answer customers and prepare actions, and people decide what they hold. EU rules require trained human oversight in key areas; a checkable certificate shows you provide it.
What does front-line banking look like in Denmark today?
Cash plays a small part in everyday Danish payments, and many branches handle little or none. The traditional teller job has largely become a customer adviser role: helping people with digital banking, account issues, cards and payments, and spotting fraud. Much of the contact happens by phone, chat and secure message rather than across a counter.
Fraud has moved online with everything else. Impersonation of bank staff, fake payment requests and pressure on older customers are familiar. The judgement you built at the counter, noticing when a request does not fit the customer, is exactly what agent review needs.
What will agents do in retail banking, and how far?
Each capability carries a depth, earned on the bank's own cases.
| Capability | Depth | Who decides |
|---|---|---|
| Answering account and card questions from the ledger | 1 | The agent explains; nothing changes |
| Drafting replies to secure messages in Danish or English | 2 | A person sends |
| Blocking a card the customer reports lost | 3 | The agent, within bounds |
| Payments to new payees above the customer's limits | 4, held | A named person approves |
| Reversing a settled payment on the bank's own rail | Withheld | No agent, at any depth |
Withheld is a platform decision, not a bank setting: the action exists and works, but no agent is allowed to take it. Banks narrow what an agent may do through their own limits, which leads to refusals or holds. Knowing that distinction is part of why bank tellers make strong AI agent reviewers.
Which AI operations jobs are open to you?
Danish adverts may be in Danish or English, with varied titles. Read for review, exceptions, approvals, quality and escalation.
Agent reviewer, customer service. You decide on the agent's held items with a short reason each time.
Fraud and exceptions reviewer. You handle cases flagged as possible scams, vulnerability or unusual activity.
AI operations analyst. You report on what is held and why, and keep the agent's procedures and product information current.
Team lead. You run the review rhythm for a customer service team.

What do Danish employers look for, and how do you show it?
They want independent judgement within clear limits and plain explanations. Prepare examples: a scam you interrupted, a payment you held, an identity check you refused to skip. The interview answers about AI agents for bank tellers help you structure them.
Pryme Intelligence Academy offers the Certified Pryme Operator, a professional certificate rather than a government licence. It requires an exam of 40 questions in 60 minutes with a pass mark of four in five, covered in how bank tellers can prepare for the AI operator exam, and a two-week practicum of review decisions, nineteen in twenty correct with no missed red line, covered in how bank tellers can complete the operator practicum. It is issued through VerifyDoc.ai and can be checked at source.
Which rules shape oversight work in Danish retail banking?
Denmark applies the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), which entered into force on 1 August 2024 with obligations phasing in over several years. Annex III lists creditworthiness assessment and credit scoring of natural persons as high-risk. Article 14 requires human oversight of high-risk systems, Article 26 sets out deployers' obligations, and Article 4 asks for AI literacy among staff. Article 50 requires that customers are told when they interact with an AI system.
GDPR applies to all customer data; Article 22 restricts decisions based solely on automated processing with legal or similarly significant effects. DORA (applying from 17 January 2025) requires banks to manage ICT risk, report major incidents and manage third-party providers. PSD2 strong customer authentication and the EU Instant Payments Regulation's payee name check shape how payments are approved. Anti-money-laundering duties follow the FATF Recommendations, and the EU AML Authority (AMLA) is being established in Frankfurt.
This is an explanation of the rules, not legal advice; confirm how they apply to you with counsel.
What does a 90-day plan look like?
Month one. Earn the free Foundations badge. Write down the scam patterns you have seen and what you did about each.
Month two. Work through the Operator modules and sit the exam.
Month three. Complete the practicum, on a simulated queue in a free workspace if your bank does not use Pryme. Have the certificate issued, add the number to your CV and LinkedIn, and apply by duty, starting with your own bank's customer operations team.
Questions people ask
My branch closed. Is it too late to move into AI operations?
No. The judgement you built at the counter is what review roles need. The certificate gives an employer evidence of it, even if your last role was not in operations.
Does my bank have to train me under the AI Act?
Article 4 asks providers and deployers to take measures for AI literacy among staff. How a bank meets that varies; it is not a promise of specific training for any one person.
Is credit decisioning part of these roles?
Sometimes. Because credit scoring of individuals is high-risk under the AI Act, reviewers in lending teams face stricter oversight requirements.
