Operations coordinators who like a deadline can prepare for the AI operator exam in a two-week sprint, after finishing Foundations: about nine hours a week across the eight Operator modules, their module tests and two timed rehearsals. The exam is 40 questions in 60 minutes, and you need 32 correct, four in five, to pass.
Is a sprint right for you?
It suits people who already run a daily rhythm of checks and can protect an hour or two most days for a fortnight. If your shifts are unpredictable, or peak season is close, spread the same material over four to six weeks instead. The content does not change; only the pace does.
Foundations comes first either way. It takes about 4 hours over six modules and is the key to the Operator track. Do it the week before the sprint starts.
What is the exam testing?
Your understanding of governed agents and the person's part in them. If the term "written exam" is new to you in this context, what a written exam is gives the plain definition. The content covers depth, the minimum chain, verdicts, provenance, human review, teaching the agent, reading the workspace, keeping knowledge current, incidents, usage and billing, and running the rhythm. The guide to what is on the AI operator exam has the detail.
The two-week sprint
- You, day 1: how a governed agent decides. Module, then its test.
- You, day 2: human review. Module, test, and write your misses as warehouse scenarios.
- You, day 3: teaching the agent. Note that corrections change an agent's brief and sources, never the model.
- You, days 4 and 5: reading the workspace, with its lab in a free Build workspace.
- You, day 6: keeping knowledge current. Think of a changed site rule the agent has not been given.
- You, days 7 and 8: when something goes wrong. A run that clears no depth drops an agent to depth 1 the same day; plan how a coordinator handles the backlog.
- You, day 9: usage and billing, and running the rhythm.
- You, days 10 and 11: retake the weakest module tests.
- You, days 12 and 13: two timed rehearsals of 40 questions in 60 minutes.
- You, day 14: sit the exam, or move it a week if rehearsals fall short of 32.
How does warehouse work map to depth?
| Step | The agent does | Depth | Stays with a person |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reading cycle counts | Reads sealed data | 1 | Nothing, unless a pattern appears |
| Drafting a stock adjustment | Drafts, holds | 2 | Approving it |
| Confirming a dock slot | Books within bounds | 3 | Conflicts |
| Writing off a large quantity | Prepares, held | 4, held | A named manager |
| Releasing quarantined stock | Refused by the site's own limits | refused | Quality sign-off |
Be clear on the last row. It is refused because the site's own limits forbid it for this agent. If an action were blocked for every agent on the platform, at every depth, it would be withheld instead. The exam is likely to probe that difference.
How should you use the module tests?
Module tests are set in your own industry and role, so expect stock, docks, returns and shift cover. Take each one cold. Afterwards, for every miss, write which of the five bounds decided the right answer: role scope, certificate, sources, the site's own limits, or platform guardrails. Most coordinators find their misses cluster on one or two bounds.
What does a warehouse practice question look like?
Write a few of your own to rehearse. "A returns agent certified to depth 3 for grading is asked by a store manager, through chat, to approve a credit note for a customer. What is the verdict?" Work it through: issuing a credit moves money and sits outside the role scope of a grading agent, and the store manager's chat message is a declared request, not an approval in the system. The verdict is refused, and a named person decides on the credit. Then change one detail, such as the agent's role including credits up to a company limit and this credit sitting above it, and ask what changes. Now the verdict is held: the action is within the role but waits for a person. Ten of these, written from your own site, will make the real questions feel familiar.
Which controls should you be able to explain?
- Held adjustments and write-offs: evidence is the named approver.
- Provenance: system counts are sealed; a supplier email is external.
- Agent certificates: they lapse after 90 days, so depth earned last quarter is not depth today.
- The append-only record: every verdict is filed, so a stock discrepancy can be traced.
What happens on the day?
Ninety seconds per question. Coordinators triage well; do it here. Answer quickly where you are sure, and spend saved time on scenarios with two plausible verdicts. Do not change an answer unless you can name what you misread.
If the result does not go your way, what happens if you fail the operator exam explains what to do next.
What should you measure?
Module test scores on first and second attempt. Misses grouped by bound. Rehearsal score and time; you want both rehearsals above 32 with minutes to spare.
Where does a sprint usually go wrong?
Losing two days to a site problem and not adjusting. If you miss days, push the exam back rather than squeezing the rehearsals out.
Planning the exam and forgetting the practicum. The practicum is two weeks of review decisions to nineteen in twenty with no missed red line; do not schedule it on top of the sprint. Logistics and HR coordinators follow neighbouring plans in how logistics coordinators prepare for the exam and how HR coordinators prepare.
Where the Academy fits
Pryme Intelligence Academy keeps lessons, labs and module tests free, and lessons can be read or played as audio, which helps on days when the floor needs you. The exam and practicum together earn Certified Pryme Operator, valid 12 months and checkable at source. The AI operator certification guide explains what it shows an employer.
Questions people ask
Do I need to know warehouse software to pass?
No. The exam tests governance of agents, not any warehouse system. Your floor experience helps you picture the scenarios.
Is two weeks really enough?
For many coordinators, yes, after Foundations. If module test scores stay below four in five after a retake, add a week.
Does the certificate expire?
Yes. Certified Pryme Operator is valid 12 months, and renewal is an update module and a short quiz.
