AI agent jobs and careers·Answer

What does an AI agent reviewer job look like for a former bank teller?

For a former bank teller, AI agent reviewer work means deciding held payments, account changes and vulnerable customer cases in a retail bank.

You move from the counter to the queue. In a retail bank, servicing and payments agents handle address changes, card replacements, standing orders and payment queries. As a reviewer, you decide what they hold: large or unusual payments, account changes that look like fraud, and customers who seem vulnerable. Your teller instincts do most of the work.

What lands in a banking reviewer's queue?

Servicing agents in a retail bank work within limits set by the bank. They hold:

  • Payments to a new payee, especially after a recent change to contact details. Payments above a limit are refused: the agent may only draft them.
  • Changes of address, phone or email that come just before a large payment or a new card request.
  • Requests from third parties, such as a relative asking about an account.
  • Customers showing signs of vulnerability: confusion, distress, mentions of bereavement or illness.
  • Cash and cheque exceptions passed from branches.
  • Possible scams, such as a customer moving savings "for safety" after a phone call.

Which decisions belong to you?

Held item What you decide What you escalate
Payment to new payee after contact detail change Call the customer on the number on file before release Confirmed fraud, to the fraud team
Third-party request Check authority, such as a power of attorney Disputed authority
Vulnerable customer Adjust the approach within policy Anything needing specialist support
Address change before a card request Verify identity through a trusted channel Account takeover patterns

Moving money is depth 4 work, bounded by the bank's limits: above them, the agent may only draft it. Some actions are not open to any agent at all: reversing a settled payment on Pryme's own rail is withheld at the platform floor. An emailed instruction is external and cannot authorise a payment.

What does a shift look like?

Take a reviewer we will call Gloria, who worked on a bank counter for nine years. Her queue at 8:30 has fifty items. Most are routine: standing order amendments above the limit, card replacements for customers who reported loss, which she clears after checking the sources.

At 10:00 she opens a held payment. An older customer wants to send most of her savings to a new account, the payee name check is a partial match, and her phone number changed two days ago. Gloria rings the old number from the bank's records. The customer's daughter answers and says her mother has been on the phone to "the bank's security team" all week. Gloria stops the payment, alerts the fraud team and records each step. At the counter, she would have seen the customer's face; here, she reads the pattern in the evidence.

What goes into the record?

Each decision is filed: the agent's draft, the sources and their provenance, your decision and your reason. The core banking ledger is sealed; a verified identity check is signed; a customer's statement is declared. Your reason names which evidence you relied on. Banks use this record for complaints, audits and the agent's improvement.

What carries over from teller work, and what is new?

Carries over: knowing when a customer is being pushed by someone else, spotting a forged signature or inconsistent story, following procedures exactly, and knowing products and fees.

New: you work from evidence on a screen rather than a person at the counter. You decide faster and in higher volume, with a written reason every time. You report patterns, such as the agent holding every payment from a certain branch, so its rules can be changed. And you work with colleagues you may never meet: agent owners, analysts and builders.

Moving from bank teller to AI agent reviewer explains how to make the move, and the cover letter for a bank teller applying for AI operations jobs helps with applications. The same job looks different for a former KYC analyst, and AI operations analyst work for former bank tellers is a later step. For the wider picture, see AI agent jobs and careers.

Where the Academy fits

Pryme Intelligence Academy's Operator track trains exactly this work: human review, when something goes wrong and running the daily rhythm. Its practicum, two weeks of decisions to nineteen in twenty correct with no missed red line, is signed off by an assessor. Some banks using Pryme make approval rights depend on a current certificate, which is valid for 12 months.

Questions people ask

Do I need to know about fraud typologies?

The basics help a lot: account takeover, impersonation scams, mule accounts. Banks usually train reviewers further, and complex cases go to fraud specialists.

Is reviewing a back-office job?

Usually, yes. Some reviewers also call customers to verify details, which uses the same skills as the counter.

Will I still be in a branch?

Most review queues are run centrally or remotely. Some banks keep reviewers close to branches for cash and cheque exceptions.
