Collections agents decide every day whether a payment plan is affordable, whether a customer is in difficulty and when to stop chasing. In consumer lending, those are exactly the decisions that stay with a person when agents draft letters and propose plans. This CV section shows you can make them, with a template and a filled sample.
What do lenders need from collections staff as agents arrive?
Agents in collections typically read the account, draft reminder letters, propose payment plans within set limits and book routine arrangements. What they should not do alone is contact a customer flagged as vulnerable, agree a plan outside affordability rules, pass an account to recovery, or ignore a customer saying they cannot pay because of illness or job loss.
Those held decisions need reviewers who understand forbearance, affordability and fair treatment, not just recovery rates. Your CV section should show you understand both sides: you collected money, and you knew when to stop. The guide on how a collections agent should show AI agent skills on a CV covers why that balance matters.
What should the section contain?
| Part | Purpose | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Heading | Tell the reader what this block is | Use "review" or "oversight" in it |
| Opening line | Your role and the decisions you can review | Name the products: loans, cards, buy-now-pay-later |
| Affordability bullet | Shows you set plans people can keep | Mention income and expenditure checks |
| Vulnerability bullet | Shows you know when to pause | Describe signs in general terms |
| Escalation bullet | Shows you know your limits | Name the role you referred to |
| Record bullet | Shows your notes stand up to review | Complaints and audits read them |
| Certificate | Something an employer can check | Include expiry and a link |

A filled sample
A sample for an invented agent, Tariq, at an invented personal loans lender:
Collections decision review
Collections agent in personal loans and credit cards, ready to review agent-drafted letters, payment plans and account actions, and to handle the cases that need a person.
- Agreed around 120 payment plans a month using income and expenditure checks; set plans customers could keep rather than the highest figure they would agree to on the call
- Recognised signs of difficulty, such as recent job loss, illness or a carer's responsibilities; paused contact and referred to the specialist support team
- Referred disputed debts and accounts of deceased customers to team leaders with full notes, and never continued contact while a dispute was open
- Wrote account notes that passed QA and complaint review, recording the reason for every arrangement and every pause
- Reviewed automated arrears letters during a pilot; flagged that letters were still being sent to customers with an open hardship case
Certificate: Certified Pryme Operator, issued [month, year], expires [month, year], verify: [link]
The final bullet is the one an interviewer will ask about. A letter to a customer in hardship is a red line in many lenders. Tariq spotted that the automation did not know about the hardship case, which is a source problem: the letter tool was not reading the right record.
Why does the plan-you-can-keep detail matter?
Because it shows you understand what good looks like for the customer, not just the lender. An agent can be told to propose plans within limits, but deciding whether a plan is realistic for this person, after this conversation, is a human judgement. Interviewers in lending listen for it.
If you work in a market where credit decisions about individuals are regulated closely, you may also be asked how decisions are explained to customers. Keep the CV factual and save that for the interview.
Where the Academy fits
Pryme Intelligence Academy's Operator track covers human review and when something goes wrong, with module tests set in your own industry and role. For a collections agent, the practicum's rule of no missed red line mirrors the stop-contact rules you already follow, and the certificate gives lenders something to check.
Questions people ask
Should I mention my collection targets?
Briefly, if they were good, but lead with judgement. A review role is judged on fair, accurate decisions; targets alone can suggest the opposite.
How does this compare with a paralegal or operations coordinator section?
The emphasis moves from customers to documents or workflows. See the CV section for a paralegal and the CV section for an operations coordinator.
