Dutch recruiters tend to favour short, direct CVs: one to two pages, reverse date order, a brief profile, concrete results and clear language levels. For AI operations roles, state plainly what you decide, which cases you hold or escalate, and which certificate an employer can check. A template and a filled sample for an e-commerce reviewer follow.
What do Dutch employers expect from a CV?
Directness is valued in Dutch working culture, and CVs reflect it. Common conventions:
- Length: one to two pages; shorter is usually better.
- Personal details: name, city, phone, email and profile link. Some candidates include a photo, which is fairly common in the Netherlands, but international employers often prefer none. Date of birth and marital status are optional and increasingly left off.
- Profile: two to four lines saying what you do and what you are looking for.
- Experience: bullets that say what you did and what happened, without inflated adjectives.
- Languages: Dutch and English with levels; many roles in international firms work in English.
- References: usually provided on request.
These are general habits, not rules. Follow the advert, especially on language.
How do you tailor it for AI operations roles?
Titles vary in Dutch and English: reviewer, operations specialist, decision analyst, kwaliteitsmedewerker, AI operations coordinator. Read the duties for review, exceptions, approvals, quality and escalation, and give each a short, specific bullet.
The Netherlands is an EU member, so the EU AI Act applies, including its requirements on human oversight of high-risk systems and on AI literacy for staff who work with AI. GDPR governs personal data. In financial services, De Nederlandsche Bank supervises prudential matters and the AFM oversees conduct. A single bullet showing oversight work under these rules is useful; do not name rules you did not work under. This is an explanation of the rules, not legal advice; confirm how they apply to you with counsel.

Questions people ask
Do I need Dutch to get an AI operations job?
Not always. Many international firms in the Netherlands work in English. Customer-facing review roles often need Dutch, so check the advert and state your level accurately.
Should I include a photo?
It is a personal choice. Photos are fairly common on Dutch CVs, but many international employers prefer none. If you include one, keep it professional.
How long should my profile be?
Two to four lines. Dutch readers appreciate getting to the point, so say what you decide and what you want next, then let the experience section do the rest.
