Irish employers generally expect a two-page CV in reverse date order, with a short profile, experience written as achievements, education and references on request, and no photo or date of birth. For AI operations roles, lead with the decisions you make, your red lines and a certificate an employer can check. Template and filled sample follow.
What do Irish employers expect from a CV?
Irish CV conventions are close to British ones, with a few local habits:
- Length: two pages for most candidates.
- Personal details: name, town or county, phone, email and profile link. Photos, date of birth and marital status are usually left off.
- Work authorisation: EU and EEA citizens can usually work without a permit; if you need permission to work, a short line on your status helps.
- Profile: three or four lines at the top, tailored to the job.
- Education: degrees and professional qualifications; earlier school results matter mainly for graduates.
- References: commonly "available on request".
Employers and recruiters differ, so follow any instructions in the advert.
How do you tailor it for AI operations roles in Ireland?
Titles vary: reviewer, operations analyst, decision analyst, claims or payments specialist, quality analyst. Read the duties for review, exceptions, approvals, quality and escalation, and match each with a real example.
Ireland has a large financial services and technology sector, and the rules shaping oversight work are mostly European. The EU AI Act applies, including human oversight of high-risk systems and record-keeping. GDPR governs personal data, and the Data Protection Commission enforces it. The Central Bank of Ireland supervises banks, insurers and payment firms, and DORA sets ICT risk rules for financial entities from 17 January 2025. If you worked under one of these, name it in one bullet with what you did. This is an explanation of the rules, not legal advice; confirm how they apply to you with counsel. Questions people ask
Do Irish employers expect a cover letter?
Many do, especially in financial services and the public sector. Keep it to one page and use it to explain one decision in more detail than the CV allows.
Is my experience from another EU country relevant?
Yes. Much of the rulebook in Irish financial services is European, so oversight work under the same EU rules elsewhere carries across. Note the country and the type of employer.
Should I list an AI certificate before or after my insurance qualifications?
Put the one most relevant to the advert first. For a reviewer role, a current oversight certificate such as the Pryme Intelligence Academy Operator certificate often belongs near the top, with industry qualifications in education.
