Show how you weighed evidence an agent gathered: which screening matches you cleared or escalated, which documents you accepted and why, and which customers you sent to enhanced due diligence. In retail banking, a KYC analyst's CV is credible when it shows you know a customer's own statement is not the same as a verified record. Add a certificate number.
What does a bank want from KYC staff once agents do the gathering?
Onboarding and periodic review used to be mostly collection: request documents, read them, key the data, run the screens. Agents now do much of that. They read an identity document, check an address, run sanctions and politically exposed person screening and draft a risk rating.
That makes the analyst's judgment the scarce part. FATF's risk-based approach expects customer due diligence to fit the risk, and deciding the risk is a person's call. A bank hiring KYC staff wants people who can look at an agent's prepared file and say whether the evidence holds up.
How strong is each piece of evidence?
This is the single most useful idea to show on a KYC CV: evidence differs by where it came from. A governed agent stamps every fact with its source, and the classes run from strongest to weakest.
| Source class | KYC example | What you do with it |
|---|---|---|
| Sealed | The bank's own account and transaction records | Rely on it |
| Signed | A document from a verified issuer, such as a certificate checkable at source | Rely on it, after confirming the issuer |
| Declared | The customer's own statement of income or source of wealth | Test it against other evidence |
| External | A web page or an emailed document | Treat as a lead, never as proof |
If your CV shows you challenged a file because the source of wealth rested only on declared information, you have shown the skill the bank needs.
What does a strong KYC line look like?
Take a KYC analyst we will call Hana at a retail bank. Her old line read: "Completed 40 KYC reviews a day with automated screening." Her rewritten lines read (sample values):
- "Decided screening matches the agent flagged as possible, around 30 a day; cleared false matches with a recorded reason and escalated true matches to the financial crime team."
- "Sent files to enhanced due diligence where the agent's risk rating relied on the customer's declared source of wealth with no supporting document."
- "Reported that the agent accepted a downloaded utility bill as proof of address; the rule was changed so such documents were held for a person."
- "Certified Pryme Operator, certificate no. [number], valid to [month, year]."
Each line shows a decision, the evidence behind it and what changed as a result.
Which mistakes make a KYC CV less believable?
- Claiming the agent "approved customers". In most banks, onboarding approval for anything other than low-risk cases stays with a person. Say who approved.
- Volume without reasons. Large review counts suggest speed. Review roles care about the quality of each decision.
- Vague compliance language. "Ensured regulatory compliance" says nothing. Name the check you did.
- Unverifiable training. Course titles without a way to check them carry little weight. A professional certificate issued through VerifyDoc.ai can be checked at source by number or QR code, and the Operator certificate from Pryme Intelligence Academy requires a practicum of real review decisions.

Questions people ask
Can a KYC analyst move into an AI oversight role?
Yes, and often naturally. Weighing evidence by source, escalating doubtful cases and recording reasons is the core of reviewing an agent's work. Look for adverts that mention review, exceptions, quality or escalation, whatever the title.
Should I list the screening lists I worked with?
Describe them in general terms, such as sanctions lists and politically exposed person screening. Avoid naming vendors, and focus on what you decided.
Does the business analyst route suit a KYC analyst?
Sometimes, if you prefer designing the process to working the queue. Compare the two with how a business analyst shows AI agent skills on a CV, and read the guide to AI skills for job seekers for what each employer will ask you to prove.
