How to request your operator certificate after the practicum

How to request your operator certificate after the practicum: assessor sign-off, the issue fee, checking it at source and sharing it with employers.

Three things happen after your last practicum day. A Pryme assessor reviews your record against the standard (nineteen in twenty correct, no missed red line) and signs it off. You then request issue and pay the issue fee. The certificate is issued through VerifyDoc.ai with a number and QR code, ready to check and share.

What has to be true before you can request the certificate?

Two things: you have passed the written exam, and your two-week practicum has been signed off. The sign-off is not a formality. An assessor reads your record of review decisions, the actions you approved, held, sent back or escalated, and the reasons you gave. They check the accuracy against nineteen in twenty, and they check every case where a red line was in play.

A single missed red line fails the practicum regardless of how good the rest of the record is. That is the point of the standard: an employer wants to know you will stop the payment authorised only by an emailed claim, or the disclosure to someone whose identity was never confirmed, every time. The argument that the practicum is what makes an operator certificate worth having explains why the standard is built this way, and the overview of AI operator certification sets out the full path.

What are the steps from sign-off to a shareable certificate?

  1. You, on the last practicum day: finish cleanly. Make sure every decision carries a reason. A reason such as "held: bank details came from an external email, confirmed with the supplier's registered contact" is what an assessor needs to see.
  2. A Pryme assessor: review and sign-off. The assessor reads the record against the standard. If it meets it, they sign it off.
  3. You: request issue and pay the issue fee. The fee is for issuing the certificate. You pay to be issued, never to pass; the assessment is already done.
  4. Issue through VerifyDoc.ai. Your certificate is issued with a unique number and a QR code, each linking to a page that shows its status at source.
  5. The public register: your entry appears. It lists certified people by name, credential and expiry.
  6. You: check it yourself. Look up your number and scan your QR code. Confirm your name is spelled correctly and the expiry is 12 months from issue.
  7. You: share it. Add the number to your CV, share it to LinkedIn with a write-up, and send it to any employer who asks.

Who does what, and what should you check?

Stage Who acts What you get What to check
Last practicum day You A complete record with reasons No decision left without a reason
Sign-off Pryme assessor A signed-off practicum That sign-off is confirmed
Request and fee You An issued certificate Your name exactly as you use it
Issue VerifyDoc.ai Number and QR code Both open the same status page
Register Public register A listed entry Name, credential and expiry
Share You CV line, LinkedIn post Number included, not just an image

How should you write about it when you share it?

Most people post an image of the certificate and the words "delighted to share". That says almost nothing. A hiring manager wants to know what you did. Describe the practicum in two or three sentences: two weeks of review decisions on agent-held actions, assessed to nineteen in twenty with no missed red line, signed off by an assessor. Then name one kind of decision you made, without client detail: held supplier payments with changed bank details, refunds above a customer's limit, or data requests from unverified callers.

Put the certificate number in the post or the CV line. An image can be copied; a number can be checked. A lapsed or revoked certificate shows as such on the same page, which is why employers trust the number more than the picture.

How do you hand it to an employer who wants to check?

Give them the number and tell them where to check it. Some employers will want a short written request they can file with your application. The employer certificate check request template gives you the wording, so the recruiter knows exactly what to look up and what they will see.

If your employer already uses Pryme, tell your team lead the day it is issued. Some businesses make approval rights depend on a current certificate, and your access may change once the certificate is on the register.

What should you capture from the practicum before you move on?

Before the details fade, pick the three decisions you found hardest and write a short note on each: what the agent drafted, which bound or source decided your view, and what you did. Those three notes are your interview answers. Different roles find different cases hard. Teachers often find the data cases subtle, as the guide on how teachers can complete the operator practicum shows, while claims handlers meet more limit and authority questions.

Where does this stage usually go wrong?

People finish the practicum and leave the issue step for weeks, and the momentum goes. People request the certificate under a shortened or informal name and then find it does not match their CV or passport. People share only the image. And people forget to diary the expiry, which is 12 months from issue; renewal is an update module and a short quiz. For what to do next, see what comes after the operator certificate.

Questions people ask

Do I have to request the certificate straight away?

No, but there is little reason to wait. Until it is issued, there is no number for an employer to check and no register entry. Requesting it while the practicum is fresh also gives you a better write-up.

Is the certificate valid in every country?

It is a professional certificate, not a licence, so it is not granted or recognised country by country. Any employer anywhere can check it at source by number or QR code. How much weight it carries is up to each employer.

What if my name on the certificate is wrong?

Check it the moment it is issued, before you share anything. A mismatch between your certificate, CV and identity documents slows down any employer check, so raise it straight away with the Academy.
