An AI agent builder CV must prove one thing: that you have turned a real job into an agent that passed certification on real cases. Lead with a profile naming the agents you built and the depth each reached, put agent projects before employers, and end with evidence an employer can check. The template and a filled sample follow.
What does a builder CV need to prove?
Hiring managers for builder roles read for three things. Can you sit with the people who do a job and write it down as a brief, with role, sources, connections and bounds? Can you find the hard cases and fix what fails? Can you get an agent certified on the business's own cases and keep it certified? If you are unsure what the role covers day to day, what an AI agent builder does sets it out.
A builder CV is not a developer CV. Programming helps in some teams, but most of the work is design, testing and judgement about where a person must stay in the loop. A former claims handler who built a first-notice agent can be a stronger candidate than a programmer with no knowledge of claims. Titles vary as well: adverts may say agent designer, automation specialist or AI workflow lead. Read the duties. If they mention briefs, test cases, certification or depth, it is builder work.
How do you fill in the template?
Work from your strongest evidence outwards.
- Profile: three lines. The domain you know, the agents you have built, and the highest depth each reached.
- Agent projects: one entry per agent. Name the job it does, the depth it was certified to, the sources it relies on, what failed in testing and what you changed. The fix you made says more than any tool you used.
- Experience: your employers, with builder-relevant duties first.
- Certificates: name, issuer, number and expiry, and a note that it can be checked at source.
Leave out any agent you did not take through testing. A prototype nobody tested is not builder evidence.
The template
- Name and contact: name, town, email, phone, profile link.
- Profile (three lines): [Domain] specialist who builds governed AI agents. Built [number] agents for [jobs], certified to depth [n]. Strongest at [test design / source selection / escalation rules].
- Agent projects (two to four entries): - Agent and job: [what it does, for whom] - Depth certified: [1 read / 2 draft / 3 routine work within bounds], and what stays with a person - Sources: [system of record, policy library, documents] and how you handled where each fact came from - Test and fix: [the failure you found, the change to brief, sources or bounds, the result on re-test] - Upkeep: [how often it was re-certified and who owns it]
- Experience: employer, title, dates; three bullets each, builder duties first.
- Certificates: [name], issued through [issuer], no. [number], valid to [month and year], checkable at source.
- Skills: case writing, test design, escalation design, reading decision records, interviewing the people who do the job; tools described by type (a CRM, a ticketing system, a general ledger).
- Education and training.
- References: available on request.
A worked example
This is a sample, not a real person. Sam, a name we will use for illustration, spent six years in accounts payable at a mid-sized distributor before moving into building.
Profile: Accounts payable specialist who builds governed AI agents for finance teams. Built two agents, for invoice matching and supplier queries, certified to depth 3 and depth 2. Strongest at writing test cases from past exceptions.
Agent project, invoice matching: Matches supplier invoices to orders and goods received, and prepares the posting. Certified to depth 3, acting only on invoices that match exactly and sit within the customer's limit; anything else is held for a clerk. Testing showed the agent accepted new bank details printed on an emailed invoice. I changed its sources so bank details come only from the sealed supplier master file, then re-tested on 200 past invoices with no repeat.
Agent project, supplier queries: Answers "where is my payment?" from the ledger and the payment run. Depth 2: the agent drafts, a clerk sends. Re-certified every quarter.
Experience: AP team lead at a mid-sized distributor. Led the move of matching work to an agent, wrote its escalation rules, and taught four clerks to review held invoices.
Certificates: Certified Pryme Builder and Certified Pryme Operator, issued through VerifyDoc.ai, checkable by number or QR code.
Notice what Sam leaves out: savings figures that cannot be proved, tools by brand, and labels such as "AI expert". Every line is a decision an interviewer can ask about. The guide to AI agent jobs and careers shows where building sits among the other roles.
Where the Academy fits
The Builder track of Pryme Intelligence Academy ends with a capstone agent you design and get certified in Attest to depth 2 or higher. That capstone gives you a ready-made project entry for this CV, and the certificate is issued through VerifyDoc.ai so an employer can check it at source. If you have never reviewed agent work, start with Foundations and Operator; each track is the key to the next.
Questions people ask
Should I list agents built in a free workspace?
Yes, if you took them through testing and say so plainly. Mark them as practice or capstone work so nobody mistakes them for production agents. The tests you wrote and the failures you fixed are what an interviewer will ask about.
Do I need to show programming on a builder CV?
Only if the advert asks for it. Most builder work is writing briefs, choosing sources, setting bounds and designing tests. List technical skills in the skills section, but lead with the agents you certified.
What if one of my agents was dropped to depth 1?
Say what happened and what you changed. An agent dropping to depth 1 after a run that cleared no depth is the control working, and showing how you found the cause and fixed it is stronger evidence than a record nobody tested.
